Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Creditor Still Contact Me Insisting on Payment Once I Have Become Bankrupt?

No, creditors caught by your bankruptcy are not able to pursue you for payment of monies owing as the monies are no longer owing by you – they are owed by your bankrupt estate.

If a creditor should contact you for payment, give that creditor your bankruptcy number and the contact details for the trustee of your bankrupt estate. If the creditor should continue to approach you for payment you should inform your trustee. Your trustee will contact the creditor and explain you no longer owe the monies.
